DR INGRID BONAPART

DM (THE NETHERLANDS) FRACP, ENDOCRINOLOGIST AND GENERAL MEDICINE PHYSICIAN

Dr Bonapart came to Toowoomba from The Netherlands where she practiced as an Endocrinologist and Specialist General Medicine Physician for many years in a Clinical Teaching Hospital setting. Prior to working as a Specialist Physician in The Netherlands, Dr Bonapart had practiced as an Endocrinologist in a secondary tertiary referral centre providing full endocrinology specialist training in Greece for eight years.

Originally from The Netherlands, Dr Bonapart obtained her primary medical qualification in 1992 from the Erasmus University in Rotterdam. She then continued her specialist training through the Erasmus University Medical Centre, completing General Medicine in 2000 and Endocrinology in 2003.

Upon moving to Australia in 2017, Dr Bonapart has worked at the Toowoomba Hospital in the Medical Assessment and Planning Unit (MAPU), the Endocrine Ward and Outpatient Clinics. She is also responsible for General Medicine and Endocrine patients in the Emergency Department. Dr Bonapart provides guidance to medical students and PGY 1-4 at the Toowoomba Hospital and participates in post graduate educational activities providing clinical lessons and presentations.

Dr Bonapart became a Fellow of Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2018.

She is passionate for all areas of Endocrinology, such as thyroid and parathyroid diseases, along with thyroid cancer, pituitary tumors, Graves’ ophthalmopathy, pre and post bariatric care, autoimmune polyglandular disease, etc. Dr Bonapart has an indepth knowledge of the diagnostic and treatment options and high quality clinical care regarding congenital and acquired hormonal and metabolic diseases.

She also has a special interest in Diabetes and will be commencing a dedicated Diabetes Clinic.
